Zenari has never abandoned Syria, and the emolument customarily awarded to the winner of his prize will instead, according to the Cardinal’s express wishes, be given to three still-functioning Catholic hospitals, two in Damascus and one in Aleppo, all open to all-comers regardless of faith.
Exceptionally, and for the first time in the Prize’s history, we would like to ask our friends for a small (or large) donation to help this project of great humanitarian value, aimed at saving lives in a country where war continues to extinguish them, in their dozens if not in their hundreds.
His Eminence is from the Veneto, and the first Cardinal to come from Verona itself for about 100 years. We hope to see special backing from Verona for his humanitarian works.
Tax-deductible donations are being collected by:

PS please do not include the word “Syria” in any wording, as the country is currently under embargo.
