NELLO CRISTIANINI, a scientist from Gorizia, receives the Masi Civiltà Veneta Prize for having successfully combined his important and internationally recognized research in the fields of computer science and Artificial Intelligence with the perspective and acute sensitivity of a true humanist. His work reminds us that scientific achievements can never be separated from an ethical reflection on their purposes and the risks they may entail.

The awards began in 1981 with the Masi Civiltà Veneta Prize, given to personalities who had their origins in the Venetian territories or with venetian family or venetian by adoption, and who had distinguished themselves in the fields of literature, art, journalism, science, the performing arts and business.
